At Historic Motorsport South West Limited we are a company dedicated to motorsport preparation and restoration. Specialising in Escort Mk1 and Mk2, whether it be restoration of a standard car or full Group 4 preparation, and a real passion of ex works cars. All work is carried out to a high standard and attention to detail is paramount. Over the years we have been associated with many makes and models… Ford Escorts, Grp2 Fiesta, Mk1 Cortinas, Vauxhall Chevette, Metro 6R4, Subaru WRC, Manta 400, F2 Astra, etc which means they are more than willing to take on any projects!

Growing up in Wales Dave found a love for motorsport when he started competing on road rallies in his Mark 1 Escort. This hobby turned into a small business when he was asked to maintain and prepare other cars for local enthusiasts. Working on various rally cars from Mini to Escort Cosworth.

Dave was then offered a position with AV sport, an American Rally team based in Arizona, preparing Subaru Impreza’s. The highlight being winning the 2002 American Rally Championship with David Higgins driving.

On returning to the UK Dave then moved onto the JWRC working for the Opel Rally Team with Driver Kris Meeke. Producing some excellent the results on World Rallies and becoming the British 2003 Junior Champion in the Opel Corsa S1600.

After a few years of working for a variety of rally teams and also some circuit racing, Dave then joined David Sutton’s Historic Motorsport team working with Ex- World Champions Stig Blomqvist and Bjorn Waldegard and competing of the East African Safari Rally. Bjorn went on to win the rally in one of two new Mark 1 Escorts that were built especially for the event.
